Kosovo HPH Network Reviews Progress and Priorities

On 7 July 2026, representatives of hospitals, primary healthcare institutions, the National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo, and patient organizations met in Gjakova for the Coordination Meeting of the Health Promoting Hospitals (HPH) Network in Kosovo. The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration across the network, sharing good practices and agreeing on priorities for advancing health promotion and integrated care.

Participants reflected on the experiences and lessons learned by the Kosovo delegation during the 31st International Conference on Health Promoting Hospitals and Health Services (HPH), held in Malmö, Sweden, in May 2026. Presentations highlighted innovative approaches to diabetes and hypertension management at Gjakova General Hospital, as well as the successful partnership model implemented by the Main Family Medicine Centre in Lipjan to strengthen primary healthcare.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for member institutions to share updates on their activities and discuss the continued development and coordination of the HPH Network. Representatives emphasized the importance of stronger collaboration between hospitals and primary healthcare, while patient organizations highlighted the value of ensuring that patients remain active partners in the design and delivery of health services.

The meeting included a discussion on the network's shared commitments and future priorities to promote patient-centred, integrated and health-promoting healthcare services across Kosovo.
