Journalists Explore Solutions-Oriented Health Reporting

On 8 May 2026, eight journalists participated in the working session “Reporting What Works, Not Only What’s Broken,” focused on strengthening solutions-oriented reporting in the field of health and Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).

Led by health communication specialist and journalist Sokol Shameti, the session introduced participants to the principles of solutions journalism, an approach that examines credible and evidence-based responses to social challenges rather than focusing solely on problems and crises.

Through case studies, editorial discussions, and practical exercises, participants explored how to identify constructive story angles related to diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, and patient pathways in Kosovo’s health system.

The workshop is part of the initiative “Beyond Headlines: Journalism, Non-Communicable Diseases, and the Stories That Matter”, a collaboration between the Association of Journalists of Kosovo (AGK) and the Integrated Health Services (IHS).
